In 1999 Marc Slonim argued the Ojibwe treaty rights case Mille Lacs. v. Minnesota before the US Supreme Court. Everything for the tribes was at stake. In a close 5-4 decision the Court affirmed Ojibwe treaty rights which allowed hunting, fishing, and gathering to continue.
