Every day, the world over, large amounts of high-level radioactive waste created by nuclear power plants is placed in interim storage, which is vulnerable to natural disasters, man-made disasters, and to societal changes. In Finland the world's first permanent repository is being hewn out of solid rock -- a huge system of underground tunnels - that must last 100,000 years as this is how long the waste remains hazardous.

  • this trailer is better than 90% of the movies i've seen

  • It's a really good documentary, I only wish they'd talk more about the facility. The entire film is about how one can effectively communicate the dangers of the facility to an unknowable future as well as briefly touching on some of the moral issues with nuclear power in so far as how to deal with the waste. The idea that Onkolo would take over a century to build and resembled a modern twist on an ancient tomb... WOW! I desperately wanted to know more on how it was conceived, designed and built.

  • @The3rdPlateau Which was thrilling in my opinion. Moral talk is less original, even though it is important.

  • it's not a film , it's a documentary

  • @professorfedi Nuclear waste makes for a good horror...

  • @KingofKlubs I couldn't agree more, although the film was very good. In fact, one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. But yes, I wish they had done so as well; it was mainly focused on making it a "psychologically unwelcoming" environment for the future
