Übler Crash 1992 Phillip Island - Stéphane Mertens kommt Eingang Start/Ziel auf die Außenlinie und verliert die Kontrolle über sein Motorrad. Er rast mit seiner Ducati 851 in die Boxenmauer. Das Motorrad fängt sofort Feuer und fährt brennend weiter. Wie durch ein Wunder wurde Mertens nicht lebensgefährlich verletzt.
