Sorry I didn't get back to many of the questions here. Most of them seem to be about the instrumental stuff the strangers did in the 70's. Bear Family has put out a boxed set that has the live albums as well as all the strangers albums. I have all the songs that were requested but don't really have time to put them together with video. Any suggestions? I could the music up with just a still photo.

The reason I first picked up a guitar was to try t learn to pick like Roy Nichols and sing like Merle Haggard, so that I could pick guitar with the most talented man I've ever know ... my Dad (Luther Ray Jones).

great video! many looked up to roy nichols.my brother learned how to play guitar like roy, then taught me. there's an album, "the strangers" came out with, i think back in the 70's. there was 2 songs that really got my attention. One was" champangne" and the other is "when the roses die". don't have my old album anymore but if you got these could you post them??? really great music!!

Heard Roy picking behind Merle recently on Willie's Radio Channel. the song was Roly Poly [ believe it or not-lol ] . Can't find it anywhere. What was different was Merle introed Roy part way through and it was like a giant SOLO for Roy. He never stopped picking.
Would love to get a copy. Anyone have one , I would be very grateful. Thanks

i learned more from mr nichols than anyone thanks roy
Man ... I love Roy Nichols. Ever hear his solo in "No Hard Time Blues" live from Muskogee? (1969). One of the best guitar solos ever played...and I mean EVER!
