Location: HOSPITAL

[Nick's POV]

I was pacing across the waiting room as Amanda cried in her hands. How could I have let this happen? Who did this? So many questions went through my mind. If only I knew what was going on in the emergency room with Demi...

Location: EMERGENCY ROOM

Paramedic A: *trying to clean the blood from off of Demi*
Paramedic B: *giving her mouth to mouth*
Paramedic C: *removing the knife from her*

Location: WAITING ROOM

[Nick's POV]

As I continued to pace, I looked up and saw Joe, Kevin, Anna Maria, and Aggie run in. It's amazing how news spreads across Manhatten so quickly.
"Is she okay? What happened?" Joe asked as Anna Maria sat with Amanda and rubbed her back.
"I don't know," I said, "but I wasn't there for her! I wasn't there to protect her."
"You?! I never should have left her alone!" Amanda disagreed.

Location: EMERGENCY ROOM

Paramedic D: We got her. We got her.
*The heart rate monitor shows a green line with various bumps.*
Demi: *breathing unevenly*

Location: WAITING ROOM
Time: 2 hours later.

Everyone was asleep in the chairs of the waiting room, except for Amanda and I. Who could sleep right now? I went and sat next to Amanda. I felt so bad for her. I put my arms around her sincerely and she cried in my chest. She had been sobbing for 3 hours now.
"Shh...Amanda Demi's strong, she'll be fine. Shh." I coaxed her.
"I just feel so bad!" she wiped her eyes.
"Me too." I sighed.
"Demetria Torrez?" a nurse said when she entered the room. I looked up.
"Is she okay?" I ask.
"You can see her if you'd like. One at a time please."
"Go ahead." I told Amanda.
"You can go Nick. She's your girlfriend."
"I know but...you need closure. It's okay." I patted her shoulder.
"Thank you, Nick." Amanda got up and followed the nurse to Demi's room.

[Demi's POV]

I lay in my bed, staring at the cieling fan going round and round, relaxed. Everything that had happened to me was just a blur in the back of my head. All I can remember is the extreme pain...
"Here she is." my nurse said to a person in the doorway.
"Thank you." the person closed the door behind them and walked up to me. "Demi?"
I smiled. "H-hi Mandy."
A tear rolled down her cheek and she sat on my bed. "How are you feeling?" she took my hand.
My voice was just above a whisper. "I can't really move." I laugh weakly.
"Demi I'm so sorry."
"For what?"
"If I wouldn't have left you alone, this wouldn't have happened." she cried.
"No AJ, it's not your..." I took a deep breath, "fault."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't worry....about it. C-could you tell the nurse to adjust my IV?"
She smiled through her tears. "No problem." she got up and hugged me. "Love you Demz."
"I love you too, Manda."
She left and the nurse returned.
As she fixed my IV, the door opened again. I looked and saw Nick come in, and close the door behind him.
"Demi?" he smiled.
"Hi N-nick." I smile.
The nurse left and Nick bit his lip, maybe trying not to cry.
"Come here." I breathed. He came over to me and I gave him a kiss.
"I don't remember much about what happened, but I do know that you saved my life. And I can't thank you enough."
"No problem." he smiled small. "Demi I lo--"
And I let out a groan of pain.
