Here is an electric gun for applying mortar to all types of masonry joints. This tool can be up to 5 times faster than using a grout bag or hawk and trowel. You can see this tool in action at: www.quikpoint.com
i used this tool yesterday and tried again today kept getting jammed...then i went to the web site....and it was missing some parts... the tool was not mine but the owner bought it used with missing parts...i wish it was brand new... i am planning to buy one or two...this will save a ton of time and money.
This guy is not doing a very neat job. I have used the Quikpoint for 4 years and love it. If you know what your doing and understand how the tool works (I've seen people use the tool cursing it when they have the nozzle in wrong), this tool is great. This thing is fast and really neat. I have been pointing for a long time and still point by hand for some jobs. Just wanted to give my account of this tool. However, Having read the coments below, it looks like only 12 year olds comment on this
does this mark up the bricks? looks very wet mortar. i use french lime with a washed silver sand and and mix it thee day before i point, its far easier to use the next day and its very fat too. i too still use a hawk and a flatiron. this seems too risky.
You know why the guy at the end says he doesn't want to use a slicker again?? because he was never good with it in the 1st place. These guns are completely useless for anyone but a homeowner. Mortar has to be mixed way to wet, you still have to strike, and you have to wait, or come back up to the drop to brush, because the joints take forever to dry. With my hawk and wood handled striker, I will dominate anyone using this gun, from start to finish..GUARANTEED!
no offense but maybe your not mixing your mortar correctly. True, you can't have a ultra thick mix with the Quikpoint but a resonable peanut butter consistancy works well for me. Try the Gibco's MRF mortar additive that comes with the gun, that stuff is great.
@bmasonry1 Speed is nothing when quality sucks...
