  • This is indeed the same Sue Thompson who sang "Norman" and other hits a decade later. I was told this recording came in 1948, not 1952. The next recording of the song was by JONI JAMES, who found the sheet music in an office in the Woods Building in Chicago. It was released on the Sharp label, and subsequently on M-G-M Records but too late as Mitch Miller heard a pre-release dub of Joni's record and had Jo Stafford cover it, and then Patti Page covered it. Joni's NEXT single went to #1.

  • @janicetrohn Certainly sounds like the same Sue Thompson. Maybe she was like Skeeter Davis, recorded since the '40's, but had a young voice, so she was able to continue recording well into the rock n' roll era.

  • Beautiful as usual for Sue Thompson. Does anyone have a video of Sue performing Sad Movies? I'd like to see it.

  • @kykahl

What does being gay or straight have to do with liking this song? I wonder why guys have to go so far out of their way to tell everybody they're not gay--especially when sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with anything. By the way, I her voice too.

  • Another great song of SUE THOMPSON, i just love her beautiful voice i love all of her songs...I'm always her number one fan! Thank you so much for posting, God bless!

  • The song goes back to 1944, Jo Stafford took it to # 1 in Oct '52, Is this the same Sue Thompson that did Norman in '62, Paper Tiger in '65 and Sad Movies in the early '70s?

  • From what I gather, Sue was the 1st to record this record. The Duprees had the great 60's version and many artists recorded this over the years. Great songs hold up forever !

  • im 22 year old. im not gay (nothing against homosexuals, do not get me wrong) but as a straight man of 22 years of age hearing this just makes me want to sit back, pour a scotch on the rocks and sit outside on a breezy summer day and just reflect on life itself... It instills my spirit with the ability to observe. have you heard the music they make today? have you heard they "they tried to make me go to rehab i said no no" compare that garbage to this song. wheres our culture gone? god help us

  • Great version awesome song .. :))

  • Sigh....Sooo .Beautiful....!!!! Thanks for the share. Enjoyed very much.

    A1000stars for this magnificent upload!!!!!!!!!
