the only way you going to prevent friction on the skirt is to put rubber fingers on the bottom but then youd need more than one fan. the skirt isnt bearing any weight of the load. its just their to harness the air.but yeah only with a good craft master will you be able to see light on the outher side of the craft.

I'm no expert, but the whole point of a hovercraft is that it hovers. if yours is touching the ground you must have a leak with the skirt or in the body. Base friction shouldn't really happen at all apart from on really rough ground.
