  • Do you know where to get a blueprint for this or a similar hammer? I'm planning on building one

  • No sorry efors I got fed up trying to find plans myself where ever you look there is always somebody trying to sell you a book or a dvd but they're not much cop, as I said earlier in the end I just went to the scrap pile started welding bits together believe me mate its a lot easier than you think. good luck.

  • how much did this cost to make?

  • Material costs on this project were nil as I made it from my scrap heap, but to make it from from scratch and having to buy the steel stock it would cost a fortune because in the UK most metal dealers only sell full length bars or beams ie 7.5 metres. The anvil head alone is torch cut from 60mm plate, the base is a 700/1000mm offcut 12mm plate this alone would set you back about a 100 gbp. My main job used to be a steel erector/fabricator so I could normaly scrounge most of what I needed.

  • @heyyou910 if you look at about 30 secs in you can see the 2 return springs that push the connecting rod back up.

  • wow i like that hammer design with the treadle link in the center of the frame. nice

  • Yes I got to agree with raiun with the added finger saving bonus being that this helper always strikes the exact point it aims at, ive seen a human helper miss and very nearly remove part of my anatomy with a 14lb sledge.

  • I built one at a workshop, cost about $700.00 ,10 years ago. Get some plans build it yourself. Much cheaper . You'll need a band saw or get parts cut to length, and you need access to a arc welder.

I'm sure Bob will agree It is like having a helper in the shop who swings a 60 lb. hammer when needed then keeps quiet and works for free.

Bob I like the "elbow" feature on the hammer arm.

    Looks like a great hammer.

  • depends where in the world you are, scrap steel is really cheap in the UK now, and if you dont build yourself one you'll always be wondering what they're like, besides if you're owt like me you love the challenge of creating something rather than buying, good luck p.s. it was easy.

  • Do you think it would be worth building your own or just toughing it out with a hammer?
