'O' Gauge C40-8 power/dummy units by Williams Electric Trains power a 51-car train of ore jennies around the test track. Yes, only one locomotive is pulling all this.
You may notice that just like the MPC/LTI autorack train, half of the rail joint noises are missing until about half the train has passed, since there is so much weight involved in towing 210 axles of model train that some of the wheelsets in the front half of the train are being lifted from the railheads.
The train consists of ore cars from Lionel, MTH, K-Line and Atlas. This consist underwent some rearrangements and adjustments, as some of the cars threatened to stringline on the 072 curves, and the Williams diesels both had to have coupler adjustments (in one case resulting from a runaway engine that had to be physically restrained after the power was cut in order to prevent a serious rear-end collision--Williams locomotives tend to coast very well thanks to the flywheels on their motors).
I have a williams norfolk dash 9 like yours. Its #8664 and has magnet traction, does yours have that?

Williams locomotives don't have Magne-Traction. Lionel invented the idea and they are the only ones who use it.
Williams has traction tires and weights in the body just like everyone else.

nice train sir... is there any way you could step back a few paces and film your whole layout? just looking at the length of the train filmed I knew it took you a while to collect all of that excellent rolling stock. kudos.

Since the tracks run along the walls of the room, it's kind of difficult to get the whole thing in one shot. There's also the three large storage units obscuring most of the south end of the layout. You can get the best idea of the scope of the test track on "Test Track: Lionel Unit Grain Train -2"--there's a camcorder-on-flatcar trip around the whole loop.

Ore cars weren't difficult to collect after the first dozen roadnames were released, and Lionel's competitors started making them around that time. That's how I got most of them.

Also at 1:13 :)
The car in question was made by Atlas in the 1970's. When I recieved the car, I found it had been converted for 2-rail use with scale couplers. I swapped out the couplers and trucks for others that still had the 3-rail compatible couplers installed.
In order not to lose the original trucks/couplers, I simply stuck them inside the car while making the test track runs with the ore train.
