celery will help lower your blood pressure, but it doesn't mean that is going to do all the job! a change of bad habits in your diet is going to help a lot more, and celery is one of the good stuff we need in our diet. Is not worth it to eat celery every day if you continue eatting fat and salty foods, as I said celery will HELP but it is need it to be acompanied by a healthy diet an exercise!

Celery is high in sodium. That's why you put it in stew & stuff.

Good grief, are you really that ignorant about WHY celery helps BP? It's because celery is one of the highest pottasium rich foods. Jeez.

Thanks!
One large celery stalk (11-12 inches in length) contains 50 mg of sodium and 161.20 mg of potassium.

Hi Pete, Celery is considered to be a "medium source" of potassium providing 171 mg per 1/2 cup. It is not a "high potassium" food source providing greater than 251 mg per half cup. However, that does not mean the potassium is not beneficial towards promoting a lower blood pressure! All the best, Lisa Nelson RD
