  • Some of the trips that the boat does are fish collection trips. Aquariums collecting tropical fish for exhibits. Normally the trips last for 10 days and I love them the most because I get to go diving. I was on a pleasure dive and we were not collecting and all of a sudden you know what. 70 feet deep feeling like hell in my wet suit but at the same time feeling so alive. It's a wonder to me why or how I stick with my job.

  • Well, there's a huge difference if you love what you do :) So I guess it makes it bearable.

I hated my old job and it just made me sick. The pay wasn't that great either.

  • I don't think Immodium is dangerous fern, you should really discuss that with your GI, it can really improve your life.

Don't resign. I've always been upfront with my bosses about my condition, it has made things much less stressful for me and they have always been great about it if you are a good worker like I am and I know you are.

  • No, I agree, Immodium is safe if used properly, but if I had to do that commute, I don't think it would be safe for me to take it daily. That's all ;)

I'm still on the fence about telling employers about my condition. In my experience, it just brought on more trouble. But thanks for sharing. :)

  • Lately I'm doing well and hopefully you too. The best thing I can ever wish for somebody with our disease is a good night's sleep. I'd like everybody to know that pooping in your pants is cool and if you don't poop in the panties you not cool. I refuse to wear diapers. So I'm the cook on a Research Vessel that goes to the Bahamas for weeks at a time. I have to share the head with many persons. It's a bite. I have a lot of stories to tell, but nobody to tell them to. Please respond...

  • .....i mean ride trains

  • thats bullshit... from your work, i'm so sorry. i completly understand were your coming from. my first attack from colitis was BAD and it started in a train bathroom, now i refuse to rise trains lol

    no working downtown for me

  • Not sure what the outcome of this was.. or if you found other work. In some countries, there are laws against this, and companies can't force someone to relocate in circumstances like this. Might be different in the US. If someone is made redundant, then they should be paid out, full stop.

I think 2-3 hours commute for ANYONE is too much.. that's 4-6 hours per day? Nothing beats working closer to home.

PS- You look great in this vid btw.

  • that's exactly the same way I feel...but it really depends on your boss, but still, it's a gamble.

  • i had UC, now i have an ileostomy, the quality of my life before surgeries versus after surgeries is like night and day, i don't have a single regret asking my doctor for the bag, i love it!

  • 2.5 hr commute definitely sucks. If I understand correctly, you're not flaring right now and from what I can tell our general experience with uc is similar. so, no risk of accidents right now. why not try the commute while applying for other jobs? You can spend the 2.5 hours in transit on your job search.

  • hey, i'm sorry to hear about your job. I don't think commuting 2 and a half hours every day is possible with colitis. I would talk to them about your condition and maybe they will be more helpful
