Fantastic to see Hoy community turbine going up today!
Thanks to the turbine development officer, Brian Clegg, and the current and previous Directors and staff of both the Island of Hoy Development Trust and Hoy Energy Limited, for all the blood sweat and tears that have been shed to make this happen.
Special thanks also to Community Energy Scotland, their Orkney Development Officer, Mark Hull, and all others that have provided advice and support through CES and its predecessors as part of HICEC and the original Community Energy Unite.
Technology: Top tower section lift on 12th July 2011. The turbine is an Enercon E44 on a 45m tower, raised on a Liebherr LTM1220 crane.
