In this tutorial, I go over step by step on how to create a single edged, katana style sword out of foam.

Part 6: Applying the Latex

materials used:
.5 inch Fiber Glass Rod
Liquid latex
.5 inch *approximate* Blue Camping Pad
.5 inch open cell foam
DAP contact cement, red can
duct tape
cloth tape
nylon rope

*Note, the liquid latex can be replaced by Plasti Dip, which can make an even stronger weapon with lesser coats

  • Can durability be further increased by cloth covering the latexed blade?

  • @suikoden72 yes, it sure can. You can also substitude latex with plastidip. Do like 4 coats of it

  • These steps and processes should also work for a scimitar-type weapon as well, correct?

  • @HauntingBull yes it will work for any single edged weapons with some obvious limitations. Becuase the rod is straight you may have to carve the blade some more to give the illusion of a curved blade.
