A day out at TankMania near Measham to celebrate my 40th birthday. I drove four different vehicles during the day, which were the Bedford MJ 4x4 Troop Carrier, Hagglund BV206 All Terrain Vehicle, FV432 Armoured Personnel Carrier and finally the FV433 Abbot Self Propelled Gun. • is there only 1 gear?

  • The Bedford MJ had a standard 4 speed manual gearbox with low and high range for off-road, all the other vehicles had automatic transmission. On the Hagglund it was a Ford 3 speed auto (which I remember from the 1970s Capri/Granada, even had the Ford gear selector together with the Ford 3.0 V6 petrol engine), both the FV432 APC and Abbot also had automatic transmission with a conventional P-R-N-D-2-1 selector as you would find in a car
