There are many people reporting health problems around “smart” meters. People have also been reporting health problems in hybrid cars from the electromagnetic radiation and interference (EMR/EMI) emissions from the electrical system.

Don't you dare put a "smart meter" on my home! I know all too well what smart meters do and how much of my private and personal information smart meters provide the utility. Smart meters are the greatest privacy violation that Americans will face.

So your point is mute. You still saved money! Cry me a river. Duke charges us in North Carolina a lot less than Florida Power and Light charges people in Florida....A LOT LESS! Besides, Duke Energy's transmission network is worth every penny that we pay. I am sure you have no clue as to how advanced and well serviced Duke Energy's transmission network is compared to most utilities.

Sustainable Development eh? I don't want any company managing my life or having the availability to do so. Sustainable development and Green Energy is all part of fulfilling the United Nations Agenda 21. Wake up America. More Govt. Control

Intermittent power is expensive and dirty, so reducing demand even a little at peak load really does matter.

Also, the existing grid is old and wastes a lot of electricity, so it's technically possible to serve the same customers at less cost; based on utility compensation structures, that means customers could be charged less without affecting Duke's profit margins.

Also, serving more customers with the same base load reduces GHG emissions per capita. So yes, it really does matter.

you may be right that the excess would be sold rather than not produced but if that happens the benefits go back to Duke's customers.
