In this video, Professor Derek Abbott, University of Adelaide, examines the resources used by nuclear power and discusses if a "nuclear utopia" is sustainable or not.

There are a couple of small typing errors on the slides to be aware of:

1) On the slide "Nuclear sites in the USA" the figure of 4000 is to roughly match the total energy consumption.

2) On the slide "Costs" the figure 750 GW, should of course read 750 MW.

  • Hold on why would america need 4000 reactors to produce all of its electricity from nuclear power, as the 105 reactors it has produce's about 20% of america's power.

    And thoughs reactors are old ones to, so the maximum amount of reactors needed for america's consumption would be around 520 and you can have several reactors per powerplant, that is a far cry from your stated 4000 reactors!@

    You are ignorent on nuclear power and your whole video is bull @*&$....

  • I guess the Nuclear lobby is doing a good job by telling us lies.
