"Zoom" is a wonderful album. It may have lacked that one "commercial-type" radio-friendly hit, which would've greatly helped its chart success, but let's face it - the main reason it tanked is because the music biz tanked! The general public took a large dose of stupid pills and anything of quality took a back set to the inane garbage that began flooding the airwaves in the 90s. This would've sold like hotcakes back in the mid-70s. Jeff Lynne is an underrated genius.

@You got that right...the music of the 90s and pretty much of today(with a few exceptions) tanked...Jeff Lynne is a musical genius and gets overlooked for the talent he is!!

This is my favorite song from "Zoom". It would sound so good in a movie soundtrack. It has an older vibe but still sounds current, and I still listen to it often. I also think "Just for Love" is one of the better songs from that CD. I think the wrong songs got released as singles, as was the case with Jeff's solo album Armchair Theatre...I think "Blown Away" could have been a hit from that album.

@tonyrocco55 It is a lovely album (except Easy Money, which I think is awful, and lyrically aimed at Bev Bevan imho). But I think it would have been better if JL had operated as a songwriter, selling these songs to other artists, instead of putting them out under the ELO banner, with that unmistakeable but so old fashioned thick woolly muddy JL production.
