In the first Mega Man Engine I developed (now discontinued), the old maze loop code I made was limited to 1 screen away, and very messy. Not very maze like.

The maze loop feature shown in this video from my new current WIP engine is a lot more cleaner, and can can be used to transition back to any screen. You can have multiple screens in between this maze loop function.

This maze loop feature uses a programming method similar to how my active teleporters currently work. In this case, however, the player is repositioned differently based on the numbers for the players screen position.

The Wily symbols at the center of those screens before the maze loop transitions are actually 'fake rooms'. They just show how I transitioned back to where I want the maze loop to end up at.

  • I think everything you've been doing here is absolutely oustanding. I only have one question/complaint. Why does everyone prefer the sound effects from Mega Man 1 and 2? Personally, I think the sounds of Mega Man shooting, landing on platforms and the contact of his shots were VASTLY improved and slicker from Mega Man 3 and onward. The same thing bothered me about Mega Man 9. I get the fact that a lot of people enjoy Mega Man 2 most, but some changes are good changes.

  • hahaha Kaizo Megman anyone?

  • I only have one question. Do you work for Capcom? and if not, i think it's high time you posted a resume. These level ideas are some of the best I've ever seen.

  • Thatt actually looks like a pretty cool stage for one of the robot masters. Just add some enemies, take away the fake wall and you're golden.

Maze Man, anyone? ... Nah, I jest.

  • You, sir, are my best friend.

  • wow. Wonder if boss battles are gonna be harder when battling in complex rooms like this.

  • Wow very nicely done. Your progress really does show, no doubt about that. Continue your fine progress.

  • Nah, it doesn't look half bad actually.

Except the fake wall above the spike, but I doubt he'd include that into the game without a very obvious hint to it, otherwise it would just be mean :P

  • then again watching the rest of the vid, I see you do that with the second stage.
