This video was shot in the Volta region of Ghana in the 1990s. I was a Fulbright Scholar there doing research on West African rhythms. I was particularly interested in Agbadga and get a "lesson" by the Ewe people on the complicated layers of this dance. I've used these patterns in many original compositions and still find it fascinating! The footage was shot by Laura Kaminsky, and I edited it very recently to accompany some lectures I am giving through INQUIRING MIND www.humanities.org/inquiringmind
