Don't be discouraged Grackle67. I was told the SAME thing because my Field Spaniel is show bred. Not just that, but becaues my dog wasn't a springer it couldn't POSSIBLY compete with Field Trial Springers. Our first field Trial we won first place in the limit stake, and my dog was a show champion by then too. Darcy almost has his AKC MH now aswell. The hunt is still in them, never give up. It'll only go away if we don't use it.

Thanks so much for the words of advise! The trainer I am meeting with told me we are starting a little too late(my labby is 14 months old) and that most bench labs do not have the "hunt" in them. I figure nothing ventured nothing gained. Hopefully Guthrie can add his own hunt test video to youtube soon! Good luck getting your JH!!

WHAT A GOOD BOY!!! Buddy is so handsome. How many of those does he have to do before he gets his JH? I am taking my yellow lab to a trainer to see if he has what it takes next week.

My pup needs two more points to get his JH. I was worried when I started training him because he was a late bloomer when it came to everything. He seemed very submissive to other dogs, didn't have a lot of drive to retrieve, and was very tentative with water stuff. The reason I mention this is because no matter what the trainer says, your lab has the potential to be a hunting machine. It just will require patience, and consistency. Good luck!
