On 23 July 1987 three West Midlands Travel Volvo Ailsa buses were parked together at M J Wilcox (Brownhills, Walsall) going through a repaint process as they had been sold to London Transport.
4763 - Repainted in London colours.
4772 - Original ble/cream livery layout
4773 - the Perry Barr "Metrobus" style livery application (more blue, less cream)
All 50 (4738-4787) Ailsa buses of this batch wrere to be sold to LT, at the time of the film some were still running in service from Perry Barr.
JOV772P ran with my local of FourSeasons for many years. Was a beast of a bus. They also owned JOV775P

What a great moment in time captured on film. I know when I worked at Dudley Garage I would often see these beasts on the road. Although I never heard it myself some people claimed these made a whistling or screaming sound when driven by an inexperienced driver.

WMPTE 4738-4787 was the best batch of buses ever built, IMHO.
