  • Not to mention, I feel that the Indian is a much prouder mascot than the Red Wolf. I think the Indian means something to the history of the state!

  • I'm a huge supporter of ASU no matter what the mascot is, but I think it's crazy that they retired the Indian Family. My dad went there in the 70s, my brother went there in the 90s, and my sister was there just before all of this happened, I grew up doing the tomahawk! I think all of the shows, costumes, and paraphernalia regarding "Indians" were always done tastefully and respectfully; I just don't see why it was necessary to change it!

  • Love how all schools had to change except Florida State (Seminoles) and the University of Illinois (Illini), both of which are big money "Power (BCS) Conference" schools. Guess ASU just couldn't pay off a tribe.

ASU grad, 2007. Last class of "Indians".

  • It was all about the Almighty Dollar !!!! Florida state didn't have to change their mascot. It wasn't the NCAA's idea. It was was an Indian organization who used political correctness to make money. The Indian's should be proud schools choose the Indian as a mascot. If they have the Indian name removed from all schools, they will only be known for their Casinos!

Way to go Indian's, trading your proud name for money!

What is the Indian word for SELL OUT ?

  • I am native american and i am very offended that we have been replaced by a dog.

  • More bull shit from the NCAA!!

  • I'm a proud ASU alum and I was beyond sad to see the mascot change. I will ALWAYS be an ASU INDIAN. Not a Red Wolf. 77 years of history and tradition...gone.

  • Nice. Another casualty of PC gone way too far.

Red Wolves? I don't know; I'm afraid someone will find a way to get their feelings hurt about that one. PeTA, anyone?

--Forever an Indian (A-State RTV grad '88).

  • ASU will forever be the Indians to me. I say

to hell with this politically correct garbage.

I still support ASU, but this move is bull, plain and simple.
