Henrietta Onodi from HUN should have won these world championships. Kim Zmeskal winning with this routine is a concrete example of the politics of sport.

Artistically uninspiring and no semblance of captivating gymnastics at all. Kim Zmeskal should have had MARIA FILATOVA (URS) teach her dance and charisma, if she wanted to do such playful routines. Filatova had a knack for making these type of routines work for her because she was inventive, charismatic and well trained in dance. Also, the Americans always seem to pike/tuck their double tucks...a sign of bad form.

all i know is nobody could do a whip back like she could

I still LOVE this routine,it think it is GREAT! it is so much fun! It really seems like she's enjoying it!!!!

This routine is horrendous! The sport is artistic gymnastics and Kim Zmeskal does not incorporate captivating choreography or dance. It is not a well-rounded routine. I think Henrieta Onodi should have won.

I know. At the time this routines seemed good but now the choreography seems horrid.

You are both incorrect. Onodi did not have the clean landings and charisma of Kim at this championship. She also had weak elevation on her leaps. There were no politics, Kim highlighted power and difficulty, while Onodi showed creativity and better artistry. Obviously, the judges favored the power and difficulty, and Kim's reputation as a world champion also helped her win this much deserved world title!
did the karolyis ever teach dance in that gym? i mean, you always hear how hard they were worked, yet the choreography was always so weak!
