An original NES hooked up to the 607 via the composite Game input. Mono audio source, using white and yellow only. Image scrolls vertically upwards from the bottom of screen until it is occupying the proper part of the screen, looks fine for a couple seconds, then blacks out and repeats the process. PLEASE HELP! THanks!

  • what kind of speakers do you have? Im considering on purchasing this receiver. Would you recommend it? Im sure whats causing it to black out, it could be the NES or the receiver. Call onkyo. Good Luck

  • hey those are actually polk monitor 50s and the center is a polk cs2... those are at my parents house, i was trying to hook everything up for them. i have the monitor 60s and i personally think they are worth the extra money but the 50s do just fine. it turns out that the NES is just too old for the receiver to properly upscale.... the receiver is amazing.... i cant wait to get my own (hopefully soon!)

  • @andersonjjj333 . Basedon its performance with HDMI, I would not suggest that you purchase ONKYO. Maybe they will get their act together and produce a better HDMI board, that does not fail, then I'id relook at the product line. For now, look at other brands.

  • Sorry that you have the same problem. It appears that a number of the ONKYO product line (mine is a TX-SR 606) have a poorly designed HDMI board. Either the power supply is crap or the board overheats, and the HDMI circuits fail. My unit is out of warranty, so the repair cost is $185 for a replacemet HDMI board. I think that maybe ONKYO should face a class action suit on selling a defective product.

  • Mine is starting to lose Video inputs. I found on Google that the Video boards are junk. Mine is just out of warranty, geeeeee. Never buying Onkyo again!

  • I too am having problems with this receiver

  • Hmmm doesn't effect all VC games. I'm currently playing Mario from the snes over hdmi and working fine yet Zelda from the same console give the error. I presume then either the Onkyo sometimes works or is just some of the VC games have been edited at nintendos end with different resolutions?

  • I have the exact same issue playing wii vc games over componant (the actual wii it self works). The amp can only upconvert one resolution using composite, older consoles are below this resolution. Also when playing wii vs games it suggest it doesn't do any pre posing of vc games to match the wii output so the amp again doesn't support that resolution for upconversion.

  • @superzorix Yes the wii works but any VC games don't

  • I'm having the exact same issue here. :(
