My favorite sailboat design of the last century, the Ackerman Newporter 40.
A popular vessel in the 1960s, designed more for comfortable cruising than for speed, the Ackerman Newporter was a cutter-rigged sailboat, typically rigged as a ketch: 40 feet on deck, roughly 32 feet at the waterline with a beam of approximately 13 feet.
This boat played a considerable role in providing a key setting for the 1965 film "My Blood Runs Cold". I have excerpted just the portions of the film which depict this boat as being of interest to aficionados of the boat since it depicts extensively the vessel as she would have looked fresh off the assembly line with better photography than is generally available.
Note that there is enough of the film present that anyone who has not seen this film and wishes to do so may want to watch the movie in its entirety first as there are numerous potential spoilers.
I don't have it handy at the moment in an editable form, but I'll keep it in mind.
Mostly, I just put these clips together a few months back to catch all the shots of this particular sailboat - I own one and am quite proud of her: and since I'm doing some repairs, upgrades and restoration, it was handy to have them all in one piece and able to be shared.
I'll try to pull that scene off later and post it.
