Tom Cruise Signs On To "Rock Of Ages"

Tom Cruise is gonna rock out! The star has signed on for "Rock of Ages"- stay tuned!

Hey Everyone I'm Chelsea Cannell, thanks for tuning in to clevver movies!

For months we've been hearing casting rumors about "Rock of Ages" -- the film adaptation of the 80's musical about a small town girl who falls in love with a big city rockstar!

We've heard Russell brand's name attached to play Lonnie, and then Alec Baldwin rumors started cropping up but we can now confirm that TOM CRUISE HAS signed ON and will be taking on the role of Stacee Jaxx.

Jaxx is the rock star in question and the role will require cruise to sing Bon Jovi's "wanted dead or alive!"

The film already has it's director Adam Shankman on board and is supposedly gearing up for production to begin in May.

So do you guys like the addition of Tom Cruise? And do you think having cruise linked to the project will solidify either Russell Brand or Alec Baldwin's potential involvement? And Would you guys even want to see all 3 guys share the screen?

i don't know, something tells me the lead should be played by a young guy how can sing. can Tom even sing or will he be dubbed over like in the old days. i got a bad feeling about this. think the movie's gonna suck. heard a lot of good things about the stage musical though ^^

U don't get much better acting than Tom Cruise. Seen an Interview with Bon Jovi last night and they asked him what he thought about Tom Cruise playing him. He said, Tom Cruise playing me, I will take it anyday, The guy is a genious!

@GoddessOfWhim2003 Stacey Jaxx is not really the lead, the guy that Constantine plays is the lead. I can't remember his name. I wasn't really jazzed about TC as Stacey, but I've seen the recent pictures and since Stacey is supposed to be kind of a washed up leader of a Hair Band, it kind of works. I remember all the hoopla about TC playing Lestat and how not even Rice wanted him. He proved he could do it so we may be pleasantly surprised. I've seen the show and it was awesome, He would work.

Actually he has pretty good sounding voice when he speaks and pretty wide range when he yells in the movies He can go pretty high and if he manages to turn that into singing the movie will be perfect as he is an perfect actor. I've seen the vid whre he sings Old Times R N R and that was pretty good. And bout that age thing come on people he mght be under 50 but he looks like under 25, his body is in perfect shape and his skin looks good 2. He is my #1 actor and if he sings 2 he'll be my #1 singe
