In this blog we visit a benchrest champion to have a look at what his reloading procedures are. He is an European gold medalist so he should know what he's doing...

  • wow, I learned so much!

  • Thanks for that. hoping to do a proper reloading blog sometime in the future, but reloading isn't really "my field"...

  • The big question I have is when seating the projectile how far do you have it off the lands, or do you put it right on?

  • @GeneralG1810 About 1mm off the lands, I never have it touching the lands as a stuck bullet and soilled powder would have catastrophic consequences for a hunt.

  • @sierra645 Thanx for the reply Ive been leaving about .015" but I think I'll increase that now thanx again

  • @GeneralG1810 Hope it'll work out for you. I'm not a "proper" reloader, I just do what the book says and it works. I'm not chasing the outmost accuracy, but I'm perfectly happy with "good enough".

  • Not sure he did. We started with new 243 cases and he probably prepped his BR cases..

  • When did he resize the cartridge??

  • No, this Forster press accepts most dies that'll go into a reloading press. It's just that it has a clip-in clip-out feature so you don't have to screw/unscrew the dies.

  • doesnt that syle press restrict you from using any other dies besides the ones made for it? What if you wanted to change dies such as switching to bushing dies ect.
