nice trucks. Excluding the surf. Gotta love the 80 series.

Thanks. Surfs are more readily available here on Okinawa, though it seems they break down quite often. Never had a problem with a LandCruiser.

@TLCoki. it depends who is driving them really. Ive had my surf for years and nothing has gone wrong and ive put her through her paces. My 3.0lt surf has the same engine as some of the landcruisers and is more than capable of anything i put her up against. They dont break down anymore than LC's in my opinion. The Hilux Surf is an iconic car renound for its off road performance and reliabilty. Yes the LC is better but to put sown the Surfs would be totaly unjustified.

@goodcat1982 It was not my intent to put down the surf. I've seen 'em tear things up here and get the job done. I'm just saying I've seen more of them break down. Part of that is due to the fact that Surfs greatly outnumber the Landcruiser here on Okinawa so naturally, you'd see more of them with maintanence issues over the long haul.

Try using the rear difflocks and you would have towed him out in no time.

I would have used the rear difflocks if I had them. All I had on my truck was the center diff lock. Don't think it would have made much difference. The "path" we were on was smooth and slick concrete. Nothing to grab onto. When I finally pulled him out, I was on the opposite side of a nearby hilltop. It didn't take much once I had the ground to dig into. He popped out quick.
