I am looking at it with a little more optimism. Gold rising may mean declining dollar. But Silver can rise independently being that it is used in myriad industrial applications. And since it is not profitable to mine at it's current price, that may make it hotter! So, lets say that the dollar does not decline anymore but silver skyrockets anyway? You probably still don't want to trade it out for dollars because nobody knows when dollars are going into their final decline.

great point. If that were the case and silver was 2K/oz that would also mean dollars should be on its final days. Bread is $200 a loaf and breakfast at McDonalds is over $100. That would mean you would need to trade the dollars for those real goods and hope silver outperformed the asset you are trading for. Food should outperform silver.

Granted, it should go to the point where 5 oz of silver can let you stay at this house for a month and stuff like that in a barter system.

I have a question about making a profit from silver. First, if we go on the assumption that the dollar is going to crash for good this time, and there is every indication that it will like what happened in Zimbabwe, then when Silver skyrockets you don't want to cash it out for it's dollar value. Say you sell $100 worth of silver that you bought at $10/ ounce and the price goes up to $2,000/ ounce. And you say, "Wow, I just sold my $100 worth of silver for $20,000. I made a huge profit!".cont

I'm Swedish and embarrassed about the nobel prize.. However, the peace price is handed out in Norway, our NATO neighbor that has a lot of oil.

However, i don't blame the people of Norway (i know they are nice people), but corruption in times like this can happen, with the desperate people behind Obama.
