First, a quick aside: as you watch this series of clips showcasing Cass and Frankie's engagement party from 1990, you'll notice all of the other stories and dramas surrounding them. They have what I have termed a do-over engagement party (it's not officially called that, but it serves that purpose) at the Cory Mansion over the 4th of July 1990, and they are much more the focus at that party than they are at this one.

Now, this party begins in earnest with the arrival of Caroline Stafford. Cass and Frankie think that she crashed the party, but Caroline indignantly informs Cass that Sharlene invited her. (Actually, Sharly invited her, but no one knows for certain yet about Sharly's existence, although John has his suspicions and is getting closer to proving them as the truth.) Caroline wishes Cass and Frankie every happiness, but Cass has a hard time believing her. Evan, sporting a bruise on his face from a well-placed punch courtesy of Jamie Frame, who caught Evan coming on to Jamie's still-married, bikini-and-short-robe-clad sister Amanda Cory Fowler by the Cory pool, removes Caroline from the conversation with Cass because he says he doesn't want her face to end up looking like his. John arrives home at the same time Rachel arrives with Ken Jordan. Rachel greets Emma happily with a hug and introduces her to Ken Jordan, then goes to greet and congratulate Cass and Frankie. John pulls Emma aside to tell her that he is going to speak to a doctor from St. Rafael's about Sharlene's stay there. Emma tells him that he shouldn't dig around in the past because he'll regret it. Frankie interrupts her uncle (by marriage) and her mother and tells them to come back to the party right after John urgently pleads with Emma to help him by telling him what she knows about Sharlene, and Emma dismissing that by telling John she doesn't have to do anything she doesn't really want to do and insisting that Sharlene has to help herself (first putting down her daughter and her daughter's fiance, and then refusing to help her brother-in-law with her sister's mental health history at the most critical time of her sister's life; boy, that Emma is just a big ray of sunshine and all kinds of helpful, isn't she? NOT!).
