I thought it was cool. I like any of these home videos no matter what, just because of the historical significance of the recording of these once famous streamliners. I always loved the Empire builder growing up seeing them and books and stuff. The paint scheme always made me just think it was a train of elegance. I actually had the pleasure of riding in a formoer empire builder dome car on a scenic railroad. Ill never forget it

Danke für die Antwort! As far as I know the first Empire Builder sets came in 1947, and in this year the Builders heavyweight cars went to the Western star (and were repainted into the green and orange scheme), which became a streamliner train in 1952, when the Builder was upgraded a 2nd time with completely new sets of streamliner cars. The zenith however was reached in 1955 with the addition of dome cars. Keep posting some more videos, I´m looking forward to that!
God damn that's beutiful

@skinnyshit8888 I'll tell my dad that his frozen fingers in that open dutch door accomplished something good.

Great stuff, please post more when you get a chance! Especially if there's anything from Washington State - Seattle, Everett, Cascade mountains, etc.

I may have a bit more KL&L logging 8 mm to post, but otherwise it'll be stills. That takes time to produce, but I appreciate the encoursgement!

Very interesting video but very poor quality. This was before the introduction of the dome cars on that train, right?

Du bist richtig, this is from 8mm in the days before light meters on the cameras and the glare from snow made it too white. I posted it for the historical value, and I think you're right about it being pre-domes. At sometime around then, the original streamlined Builder cars went over to the Western Star.
I'll be posting more scenes from my father's 1954 trip, etc., and all should look better than this (no snow). This does look a bit better in high quality format.
