Rodin toroids are merely a phase shifted coil system, and induce moving magnet fields in the same way as more conventional coil windings in an AC motor, which use other ways to produce the phase shift. I should know, I have designed motors for a living and tried almost very conceivable coil type. They does exhibit strong central fields due to the toroidal form, that is all.

There's nothing here more than School Physic covers. it is standard electromagnetic theory and practice, Faraday, and Tesla covered this over a 100 years ago! There are tweaks to coil design than can be done, but a basic knowledge of electrical theory would help understand things. Induction is well understood, what confuses people is that simple AC/DC calculations no longer apply to complex wave forms, the maths is also as complex.

Resonant frequency multiplication. Turn off all fluorescent lights and see what happens with only incandescent. Any magnet brought near a coil like that will generate voltages; it's the same basic thing you can see happening when you get a magnet near a TV screen.

The reason why you don't get any reading from the side is because it's an 'output' which our science cannot monitor. it's the negative side of the OPEN circuit. ;) It will also be 'colder'.
