Those are the standard Scuba Pro Jetfins. GUE preaches their use, and I believe that once a certain level of skill is achieved it is very practical to use them, particularly of their heavy weight.
The back kick is possible with any type of fin. I've demonstrated to my students the back kick in every fin that they have to show that the problem is not in the fin- but rather in technique. I can back kick effectively without fins in my dry suit.
