Senator's Spezza gets a major penalty and a MAJOR BAD CALL, when clearly the penalty belongs to Flyers' Biron. You decide.

  • PART FIVE

As a huge hockey fan, period, I for one, AM SICK AND TIRED OF IT. It frustrates me as a viewer and I'm sure not the only one. How many of you out there, are yelling at the TV more these days then ever before?

  • PART FOUR

And the butt end was nothing but a tap, give me a break, he hardly even moved his stick. This was a judgment call because the Refs had to give Ottawa something. The commentators were having a hard time finding the infraction and when they saw it, they said, I guess that's it. It was so minimal and was like looking for a needle in the haystack. If the Refs can see that, then why are there so many missed calls? It is like the Refs are controlling the game.

  • PART THREE

In this particular situation Biron should have received 2 penalties, the Flyer player that was giving Spezza cheap shots while he was pulling him back and forth while the Ref was holding him (thanks Ref, why hold Spezza?, he is not a fighter and no threat.), should have received a roughing call.

  • PART TWO

So don't go and start preaching the rulebook because the Refs call what they want and when they want. During this losing stretch for the Senators, I have seen many, many infractions such as cross-checking (that's why Alfredsson is injured right now, no call), tripping, tons of missing interference calls, hooking, charging, etc.

    It is ridiculous.

  • PART ONE

What's all this crap about the rulebook? If the Refs are going to be that black and white, then apply the fuc.. rules then.

The Refs are not calling visibly blatant penalties and they are looking right at the infraction but do nothing.

What the hell is all that about?

  • Biron didn't like his celebration.

  • Sebastian,

I guess you just watch TSN all day and blindly believe all the garbage they say about Philadelphia. There have been many hits this year by players not on the Flyers, much worse hits than the hits the Flyers have been suspended for, and these players were not disciplined at all.

    Give me a break.

  • @ eassona cmon crybaby.. its clearly rules are rules and but ending is a serious attempt to injure someone so i really like this call and i think its reamrkable that the ref saw it ..int the middle of the players.. great job by the ref..

  • It was actually a good call. I like spezza but you can clearly see him butt ending someone at the 26 second mark.

  • The only reason people are getting angry,is because their getting 40 camera angles in slomo, the refs dont

They see in real time, in real play

Has anyone reffed at a high level? Its not an easy thing to do

  • You can clearly see Spezza butt end the guy at 3:47

  • I think we are yelling at the tv more than ever is because there are more camera angles and slow motion replays than ever before. What Biron did was nothing that we dont see every game anyway. If the announcers didnt make such a big deal of it this video wouldnt even be on youtube.

  • And that's why we were known as the broadstreet bullys... Yeah

  • the butt end had nothing to do with the intial altercation with biron. It came when senators player wouldn't let go of the stick in the big group. even the announcer's say it. Also Biron should have gotten 2 for cross checking and 2 for roughing. Depending on the ref's he could have gotten an unsportsman like as well

  • butt ends fucking hurt

  • i am sorry but you are all idiots including the announcers the penalty occurs at 3:48 during the scrum someone grabs spezza's stick and in retaliation the thrusts it into them...that is why he got the penalty not because of anything he did to biron
