I had been struggling with high DOCs (Dissolved Organic Compounds) since my pond renovation, as the reduced pond volume meant a corresponding higher level of DOC concentration. I know a protein skimmer would have solved the problem but I was playing with other methods which will not increase my pond running costs. Finally I found the way.

  • @SuperQuickStick Doesn't really make any difference to what I mentioned. Much too little water to really keep koi to their genetic potential.

  • @SuperQuickStick If I'm not mistaken, 150 gallons is not even half a ton of water. In this kind of volume, you would be better off rearing other fish like goldfish. Koi will grow large. Maybe your 6 koi will survive, but they won't be happy and they will hardly grow.

  • man i got a buzz by looking at that video, and awesome tip, ill have to try it sometime, koi look imaculate

  • Beautiful Kois there! helpful clip.
