@atomickilla You're right Katrina did make landfall in Buras...but Plaquemines Parish is not a suburb of New Orleans and the eye never went over the city of New Orleans...The western eyewall went over New Orleans but the eye went over Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes and made it's final landfall on the Louisiana/Mississippi border along the Pearl River..Slidell and communities in western Hancock County, MS. (Pearlington, Lakeshore, Cleremont Harbor) were in the eye during its final landfall.

@jeremiah20092009 Actually, you're very wrong about the landfall. It made landfall in Buras, Louisiana, which is located in Plaquemines Parish which is a suburb of New Orleans. Technically, the eye did go over New Orleans kind of making landfall.

Hurricane Katrina didnt make landfall on New Orleans. The eye actually made landfall on the town of Bay St. Louis, MS. New Orleans did suffer indeed, however, the MS coast did recieve more damage. Its safe to say that New Orleans did recieve damage from the flood, but miles and miles of absolute beauty on the MS Coast were completely destroyed. God Bless those who are still rebuilding. One day, home will be home again. j

i have lived here in biloxi my whole life and i stayed for katrina because i am in the fire dept. and it was the most horrible thing ever i have never in my life saw wind that fast and rain that hard. i am not trying to sound selfish but it has been proven time and time again that we got way more damage than they did but yet everyone talks about NO don't get me wrong it was plain horrible over there but how come they never talk about MS?
