very closed and quiet bit of history this is. Many people do not know who this man is and that ALL kings and queens had to bow to him bcoz he was more regal than they were, Even the queen of england had to bow and kiss his hand.

What is the name of this film/documentary. I've learned so much from it already. Haile Selassie had such a regal and distinguished countenance that just demanded respect...looking at this video after seeing his visit to Jamaica, I think the Jamaican gov. And people welcomed him better.

I am NOT from Ethiopia, but in my travels in Europe and North America I have not yet met a single Ethiopian (most i've met were taxi drivers over 50 years old) who lived in Ethiopia under his reign - who have anything bad to say about the Emperor, they all say he was the best leader Ethiopia ever had, he modernized the country etc.
I too grew up hearing that he ate off of Gold plates while his people starved at the Palace gates, but yet when I asked all these Ethiopians they tell me it is a lie.
