KORK
nennt man die äußere Rinde der Korkeiche
(quercus suber). Sie wird alle 9-12 Jahre als
mehrere Zentimeter dicke Schicht vom Baum
geschält, ohne dass dies ihm schadet. Bei der
durchschnittlichen Lebensdauer einer Korkeiche
von 250 bis 350 Jahren kann ein einziger Baum
bis zu 16 Mal abgeerntet werden.
Nach der Ernte wird der Kork nach der Qualität sortiert und getrocknet.
Aus den hochwertigsten Rinden werden Flaschenkorken gestanzt,
während der Großteil der Produktion gewässert .
und zu flachen Platten gepresst wird. Auch aus
diesem Material werden in der Hauptsache
Flaschenkorken hergestellt, und daneben vor
allem ökologische Baustoffe: Dämmkork,
Fußbodenbeläge, u.a.
Durch neue Herstellungsverfahren wurde in den letzten Jahren die Verarbeitung von Kork zu unseren einzigartigen Taschen und Mode-Accessoires möglich. Auch dabei kommen dem Benutzer einige typische Eigenschaften des Kork besonders zugute: alle unsere Produkte sind in höchstem Maße strapazierfähig, wasserdicht, alterungsbeständig und pflegeleicht.
Pflege: Unsere Produkte können ganz einfach mit Wasser und Seife gereinigt werden.

CORK
is the name of the outside skin of the cork tree
(querus suber). It is removed from the tree
every 9-12 years - without causing damage - as
a layer of several centimetres in thickness. The
average life expectancy of a cork tree is between
250 and 350 years, and one cork tree can
provide up to 16 harvests.
Following the harvest, the cork is sorted by
quality and then dried. The most valuable skins
provide corks for bottles, although the largest
part of the production is actually soaked in water
and then pressed into flat panels. Bottle corks
are also made from this material, as is ecological
building material such as insulation, floor tiles,
etc.
New methods of production, which have been
invented during the last few years, have made it
possible to create our unique bags and fashion
accessories. Users of these can also enjoy some
of the typical characteristics of cork: all our
products are very strong, waterproof, long-
lasting and easy to clean.
Cleaning: Our products can be easily cleaned by wiping gently with soap (detergent) and water.

This is one of the best videos you have posted. I am sure that most people do not know that the SOBREIRO (cork tree) is used for many things. Portugal was until recently number one producer in the world. I especially liked the way you presented it through pages of a book.
