Really? Wow. Well I think they made the right call picking Rooney. Natalie and Scarlet are both well established actors, and I think for a role like this, it's better to cast somebody who's not super well known (or at least not as much as those other two). But if they had chosen either of those two I could imagine them pulling it off.
