The 40's marked the most labour-intensive time. He took part in more then 45 movies, among them "Millionaire Playboy" (40), "Victory" (40), "Shut My Big Mout" (42), "Sleepytime Gal" (42), "Phantom of the Opera" (43), "Passport to Destiny" (44), "The Catman of Paris" (46), "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (47), "Trouble Makers" (48) and "The Loveable Cheat" (49).

He couldn't complain of lacking work and he was active as an actor till the end of the 80', so in "Little Egypt" (51), "Sky High" (52), "So You Want to Be Pretty" (56), "Pocketful of Miracles" (61), "The Errand Boy" (61), "Three on a Couch" (66), "Barefoot in the Park" (67), "The Comic" (69), "The Sunshine Boys" (75), "The Strongest Man in the World" (75), "Silent Movie" (76), "The World's Greatest Lover" (77), "Herbie Goes Bananas" (80) and "Barfly" (87).
