You can end a fight without testing someone's FULL abilities. THIS is testing BALANCE, SPEED, RHYTHM, AGILITY, REFLEXES, STRENGTH, ENDURANCE, and COORDINATION. You can't test all of that if you knock someone out before they can display it.
Like I said, this is the ART part of MARTIAL art. The MARTIAL part of Martial Art comes in when you are in war, or are fending off against attackers in a back alley.
Even boxing and MMA don't test MARTIAL ability to it's fullest. That's why they have rules.

Nope. He's saying "JIA YOU!" Which is what the crowd is yelling.
Which, in means something along the lines of: work it! work it! Literally it's something like "add more!" In this case, add more energy, or work hard, etc etc.

What they are doing is impressive but this is as much real as Pro Wrestling is. This is theatrical "work" based on "shoot" moves. Sure many of the moves in pro wrestling work and are based on Catch Wrestling moves, but it is just for theatrics now. Who do you think is going to win in a fight - a pro Wrestler or an actual top notch submission grappler? How about these girls vs. an actual martial artist?
Sanshou is much more the "real" deal. The outcome isn't predetermined.

So many comments below are horribly WRONG. Julian123, funny that every art u mention is sport based. Wushu training is more then you could ever manage. As to the swords being aluminum replicas? Umm no, they are spring steal and some are combat steel. The actual point of the sword is to pierce between open areas of armor. To even per say then go through the rib space and then into an organ (Via bending) . The Beijing wushu members have defeated some of china's best masters in art and fighting.

@Julian123123123 No, it wouldn't work, that's why it's more of an ART. They practice KNOWING that it won't work, but i'm sure they learn what is applicable in the "real world" before becoming artsy.

If I punch someone in the face it will not be a lucky shot! Nothing compares to a real fight for testing abilities..

this is the ART part of martial art. Of course it's not about real battle. It's about balance, coordination, speed, agility, rhythm, and reflexes. Testing the full extent of an athletes ability. If you punch someone in the face, it may allow you to beat them, but the true extent of their skill may not have been realized because you got a lucky shot.
