The Twinwood Mechanical Organ Festival is a weekend event held at the historic Twinwood Airfield near Bedford (UK), also home of the Glenn Miller Museum. Organised by Bob West, the Twinwoods Arena comes alive to the sound of street and fairground organs during the festival, which also features crafts and other exhibits, and marks the closure of events at Twinwood for the winter.
For the 2007 show, the third year of this wonderful event, the Saturday night entertainment amongst this small and friendly gathering of enthusiasts comprised some informal performances of mechanical self-playing street organs inside the main hangar with completely unrehearsed 'accordion band' playing in between. This video shows some of the latter, with presenter James Dundon giving drum backing to Andrew Smith and myself Nick Williams on the piano accordion. In the first section Andrew is playing a digital keyboard with a MIDI link to the Alan Pell self-playing accordion owned by Chris Doe.
Anyway, I've roughly edited it all together for you all to enjoy. Photos from the festival, together with lots of information regarding mechanical organs in general can be found on the independent Mechanical Organ Discussion Forum, a free to join internet forum for Street, Fairground and Dance Organ enthusiasts worldwide... http://www.fairgroundorgan.com/forum
More videos from this superb event to follow on this channel, and don't forget next year's organ festival on 11th and 12th October 2008.
