This phone is mighty !
-
ITs an Apple patent but apple allows certain mobile companies to use it. If you google Multitouch you'll see what i mean :)
-
Multi-touch isn't an apple only thing. It's implimentent in many phones like: HTC Hero, Samsung Moment, Motorola Milestone and the Palm Pre.. as well as Microsoft's Zune HD.

The retail model doesn't lag
-
Its a prototype. And no, the proto I have tried, didnt lag at all.
-
Using multi touch requires a capacitive display. The N900 has a resistive display so only single touch is possible. However, the resistive display is much more accurate than capacitive, and it is possible to use e.g. a stylus, which isn't possible with a capacitive display.
Also, zooming isn't needed as much with the N900, as clicking links and selecting text is quite accurate even without zooming in on it.
Also, I think the circular zoom mechanism is pretty clever for single touch.

This is the prototype version of the phone.
I've been using the Nokia N900, and I can promise you, that the phone is everything else than lagy!
-
the screen doesnt look smooth it like lags
-
Because it's patented i guess. Swirling it's really strange ..

Multi Touch is a patented by Apple... Nokia would have serious probs if she applied the multi touch system
