the bulk of the bradford fleet then in the late 70s and 80s were either an68s and fleetlines with 680 engines. were roe bodied and alexander double and single door buses. they had a few fleetlines with the 6lxb gardner engines.
@routeman680 Aye. Strip n' gouge capitalism. Invented by the Tories and perfected by New Labour. I really dont know why anyone votes for either of them.
t was not the Labour government that closed down British industry but the Conservative governments 1979-1997. They split Leyland Bus and Truck in 1987 into separate Bus and Truck companies. L.Bus was sold to Volvo in 1990, which closed down all the British plants within a couple of years. L.Trucks was merged 40% with Dutch company DAF 60% (Labour argued for 50-50 but the Tories said Leyland was the junior partner!) Then of course DAF swiftly closed down production of large trucks in Britain!
That was T1 or some other "Training bus" operated by Yorkshire Traction - an absolute PIG to work on as it had an original Mk1 National gearbox instead of the technically updated Mk2 gearbox. - Checking the oil level was a pain on the box too as you had to do it with the engine running - Glad I don't work there anymore!
We have a Leyland bus with a O.600 that has done over 1.8 million km.s! Nothing wrong with the engine, not even excessive oil consumption. Just the DPA pump was replaced once, along with the injectors. Still has perfect compression, starts immediately. Bus is falling apart now, but the engine is not giving up. Bus is complete and will be restored in the near future and is kept in a safe place. It's a Leyland-Verheul from 1966. Verheul factory was owned by LMC until 1972, destroyed by fire.
@mrdeisel335 - Check his other posts. It's a bus.
