Some combo demonstrations for Hsien-Ko. I'm the type that generally needs a video example to practice combos with, and since the Hsien-Ko forums on Shoryuken didn't have one, I figured I would provide it. I don't take credit for these combos, I simply want to provide a video on what they look like for others that use this cute corpse. Credit goes to all the people at Shoryuken.com who shared their findings and creativity!

Also testing out new recording equipment. Hoping it looks good. Let me know :).

The combo inputs are listed below. I didn't end any combo with Tenrai ha hyper because the damage is too random to give an accurate number. Add about 150-200k damage to the combos to get an idea of what ending with a hyper would yield.

And that's that. Not a great video or anything, but hopefully it'll be useful to the six people who use Hsien-Ko. She certainly has more combo potential than in Vanilla, thankfully!


I will begin playing SF again semi-shortly. I've been practicing UMvC3, trying to finally get decent at it before I move on. Phoenix Wright takes a lot of effort to use, but he's too much fun.

PS: I changed the starting meter to represent the difficulty of the combos. Most are "Level 2" combos, being moderate difficulty, while two are a "Level 1" combo, being easy, and one is a "Level 3" combo, the hardest of the bunch in my opinion.

    I agree completely with you. She's more than just an assist character, we just need to discover and work for it :).

  • I've got to try these, especially with the team I'm trying to make. I love Hsien-ko, but I don't know if it's such a good idea to put her as an anchor.

    I don't know if I like her as point or anchor personally, but I think she has potential in the middle. With X-Factor she can do plenty of damage in X-Factor level 2 or 3, but I still think she needs a good assist to help solve her mobility problem.

  • hsien ko is Top assist character. there's a player here in Philippines who uses magneto storm and hsien ko..trust me, It is like the new MSP!

  • I like to end each hsien-ko combo with a down-to-backwards hyper combo1. Because it hurts A LOT 2. because its fun to see someone get trampled by spike balls.

  • I think she is definitely better than Frank West who is imo completely an assist character, because he has to do a lot before he is at his most effective by himself, and even then he isn't very good. I think a lot people have let her lack of a wavedash keep them from seeing all her other strengths. There a re a lot of characters that have poor mobility so it's not like she's alone on that.All Hsien Ko needs his somebody to do for her what Gamerbee did for Adon, and this video is a good start :D

  • Capcom was probably afraid to buff her in the transition from Vanilla to Ultimate because of her Gold Armor. Which is completely unfounded when you have much cheaper install crap running around like Devil Trigger, Sougenmou, and Luminous Body, along with other characters who are solid both as an assist and on point (i.e., Doom). With a few small tweaks, like Pendulum cancels and a faster airdash (two tools she abuses in her home series), she could be a good threat. But for now, just keep reppin.

  • @Jaddahakarie She doesn't make for a good anchor because of her mobility issues (though you should get used to using her in XF of course). I find she is most effective as second, as you can safely DHC into her Rimoukon/Gold Armor and hard tag back out to your point who will benefit greatly from the armored Pendulum. Some people like running her on point to cause a little havoc and Gong and armor up, then tag out too.

  • Hsien-Ko is def. a classic. loved her ever since i first saw her in Pocket Fighter when i was like 8 or something.

    She's actually the quencher for me to want this game.
