Our children and grandchildren went scuba diving in Hawaii last summer..

  • Coral bleaching occurs when the polyp of the coral dies. Coral structures are a result of the symbiotic relationship between a polyp animal and a photosynthetic plant. The plant uses sun energy to fuel the polyp. The polyp metabolizes calcarious molecules found in the ocean to make the coral structure that houses the two organisms.

    Changing water temperatures due to climate change and land sources of pollution that change the water's pH are suspected causes of recent bleaching trends.

  • snow4man there is also another site called myscubastory that has diving stories like accidents shark encounters etc. type myscubastory into google and its first one i think..

  • It takes THOUSANDS of years for coral to regrow. if too many selfish people go scuba diving there will be very few good dive sites left in the world in 100 years

  • Touching the coral and harassing the turtles with multiple camera flash exposures; while they may have gotten some good photos, it came at a terrible price.
