1. fanelli should never have tried to turn and should have had his head up 2. The guy may not deserve a year suspension but a couple months its obvious it was charging boarding and intent to injure
As much as it sucks to what happened to Faneli, he put himself in a vulnerable position as he turned to get rid of the puck. Liambas was lining him up as he was coming around the net, Faneli saw him coming, and tried to get rid of the puck at the last split second. If he didn't turn, Liambas would have hit him square in the chest, resulting in a lot less dangerous hit.
Boarding or not, you have to keep your head up and face the rink. Nobody can stop a check if the guy with the puck turns his back and pulls his head down...
First of all, stammeh, you are right in saying that potofiroz cannot type/speak proper grammar. At the same time, you spelt referee wrong so...nice job. Second of all, I AM a referee and that was shoulder to shoulder. That being said, you are incorrect in saying that you need to protect yourself in the corners. It is the responsibility of the checker to let up when a player is defenseless to a check; which in this case, fanelli was.
Firstly, when you correct a persons spelling, make sure that you don't make any mistakes. It's spelled not "spelt", but as you say, your a referee..... enough said. Although I never want to see another player hurt during play, that hit shouldn't have been a suspension. A penalty due to the injury, YES. But Fanelli saw him coming and twisted at the last second, the player commited to the hit and couldn't have "let up" as you say.
potofiroz you can barely type/speak proper grammar in english, I highly doubt you are a refere, that was shoulder to shoulder, not shoulder to head. You need to be able to protect yourself in the corners, and Fanelli didn't.

But yes that was charging.
