What's the point in using electronic device for your drums if you don't enjoy electronic music? ;) It will always be a substitute for a real drummer and nothing more.
With some circuit bending the machine becomes a real instrument that can create unique and interesting sounds, it's no longer just pretending to be something it's not.

How's he destroying it? If anything, he's enhancing it. Adding more features to old outdated hardware is hardly "destroying".
Also, not everyone has money for fuzz pedals, so it's much easier to just short the circuit to create a similar effect.

amazing. adore this video

you are just destroying classic equipment, if you dont like how it sounds then sell it to someone who does like it. if you want distortion, then put it through a fuzz pedal, if you want to customize, just put a sticker on it, whatever. you should make music as your hobby, not just screwing that poor thing, i mean that drum pattern is what needs to be worked. BENDING IS OVERRATED

this is a good bend, its not just a bunch of noise or something, what the hell is that guy talking about

yeah, sounds good - more interesting phasers and stuff than some. So are these bends all on the sound rom? I've got an R100 I want to experiment with bends on.

@cubdukat If you can't hear "the point" in the demo, then nobody can tell you...regardless of your age.

first 6 plugs....fail.

Do you have schematics for your bend? I know the MN234001KAA 40pin Chip is the one I should be bending on the Kawai R-50, but would appreciate some advice / help.
Thanks in advance
Maybe I'm just old, but what is the point exactly of "circuit bending"?

It keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. Well, that and it's a pretty cheap way to get some interesting sounds out of outdated and cheap machines.
