This song, in case anyone is interested, is a reference to a beautiful Rumi poem (13th century Sufi poet) called "Love Dogs". Part of it might shed some light on this song:
"The grief you cry out from
draws you toward union.
Listen to the whine of a dog for its master.
This whining is the connection.
There are love dogs
no one knows the name of.
Give your life
to be one of them."
Not only is this band really well read, but this song is an amazing philosophy :)

"Patience is a virtue, until it's silence burns you." I used to count the days of us being apart. Now I know there is no chalkboard big enough for that and very soon I'll be at peace with the idea of never meeting.

I was listening to this song when I found out one of my best friends killed himself. I always felt melancholy listening to this, but now it is all-consuming.

Of course they're well-read: They're an art rock outfit from Brooklyn. It's practically the law that they should have in-depth knowledge of obscure poetry and literature. They wouldn't stand a chance of succeeding in the hipster-dominated world of alternative music, if they weren't well-read. But i couldn't care if they were babbling morons, as long as they make music as excellent as this.
